Centric relation

The position the lower jaw (mandible) is in relative to the upper jaw (maxilla) when the jaw muscles are at rest, with the condyles of the mandible in a stable superior ("up" if the patient is standing), anterior (forward) position in the glenoid fossa of the skull base.
