Cast

  1. Metal fabrication—A process by which molten metal is flowed or injected into a mold of a desired shape and allowed to cool. Metal casting is a process by which inlays, onlays, denture frameworks, and certain types of crowns for restoring teeth are made.

  2. Study model—A replica of a patient's natural teeth, made by filling an impression or mold of the teeth with dental stone, acrylic or other material. See Figure 1.
