Alloplastic

Refers to any synthetic, plastic, or otherwise non-living graft materials used to augment areas of deficient tissue. In dentistry, these may include bioactive glasses, copolymers, and beta tricalcium phosphate (TCP). Advantages include lack of need for donor tissue, avoidance of multiple surgical sites to harvest grafts, and ready availability.
