Poorly contoured dental restorations
Common related diagnoses
It is possible that this diagnosis is part of a larger problem. Treating this condition may not treat the underlying cause. This condition may also lead to other problems. Here are some possible related diagnoses to investigate and talk to your dentist about.
Poorly contoured restorations which are not manageable by the patient, and have gone untreated can lead to more extensive problems that must also be treated. For example, if a patient is unable to clean around an overhanging filling, they may develop localized gingivitis or periodontitis. Food traps can also lead to development of new decay (recurrent caries) around existing restorations.
